Activity 6

The Holocaust
Activity 6

1) The holocaust was the deliberate, systematic, planned mass murder of all the jews in Europe. It was a genocide.

2) To eliminate all of their political opponents.

3) At first their one unit, the Einsatzgruppen also known as ‘special action groups’ or ‘killing squads’ followed the German army into the Soviet Union and rounded up Jews and executed them but then they started to commit mass murders by means of gas chambers, at their concentration camps and some death camps. It was genocide, selective mass murder intended to destroy all or part of a national ethnic or ‘racial group.

4) The world didn’t respond well, they were highly against it and appalled that people could do such a thing, it was extreme prejudice and it can also be considered a war crime, a severe one. They forced them to sign a treaty that prohibited them from doing such violent things.
